The flags of the new people's republic of Kampuchea flutter proudly from the towers of Angkor Wat. But the glories of Angkor are almost daily being litterally chipped away. The complex of ancient temples and palaces which is one of the greatest of world mounments and the symbol of Khmer identity is being stripped of is statetary and embellish ments by thieves operating mainly from the Cambodian refugee camps in Thailand.
