On November 25, 1978, the month after signing the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (November 03, 1978), Vietnam began its invasion of Cambodia : on January 07, 1979, it attack the capital of Phnom Penh. In respond to this , Chin, in intiated "Punitive assault" and attacked Vietnam along the Sino-Vietnam border on Febraury 17.
