This is the fifth congress of the party; the fourth was held in May 1981 shortly after the toppling of the Pol Pot genocide clique. The first congress at which the KPRP was founded, was held in 1951. The second congress of the KPRP was marked by the infiltration of the traitors Pol Pot and Ieng Sary.
