Died of starvation:
My brother-in-law, Chheng Nim, died of starvation in February 1976 in Champei Commune, Bati District, Takeo Province. I didn’t witness his death because he and his family had been evacuated from their home village to Kang Pisey District of Kampong Speu Province. I learned the story from my elder sister (his wife) after the liberation of 7 January 1979. My sister, who is named Uy Khen, is alive but in her old age. I didn’t have any relatives who were detained in Sang Prison during the Khmer Rouge regime. In fact, I had no idea about what was happening in Sang Prison due to the fact that I lived in Kampong Speu Province during the Khmer Rouge reign (1975-1979). |
