The major diplomatic event this week for ASEAN is the visit to Hanoi by Indonesian Foreign Minister Dr. Mochtar Kusmaatmadja. His mission will include talks with Vietnamese leaders on plans and proposal for ending the Kampuchean crisis, ever since Vietnam invaded Kampuchea in late 1978, the ASEAN countries have either individually or as bloc, sought all avenues for negotiating a realistic peace settlement.
