First quarter fulfillment of 1988 annual plan. Despite prolonged drought worse than ever before, the rainy season's food production was quite high as the final harvest stood at 67,2% of the annual plan, the Ministry of Agriculture had already distributed tractors to the provinces by the start of the dry season, and the land reclamation and the creation of new economic zone had been given adequate and attention by the provincial authorities and accorded a fairly wide participation by the local population.
