Not a good place to breakdown, 56 miles southeast Phnom Penh, and still 35 miles short of our destination, I had noticed for the last few miles that the village had started to look even poorer. There were fewer people around, and fewer buffaloes plodding across the pastoral landscape of stately sugar palms and waterlogged rice paddies.
