Thailand is gearing up to expand trade and investment with Laos. Although Bangkok remains embroiled in a diplomatic war with Hanoi over Vietnam's occupation of Cambodia, the surge in Thai-Lao contacts underscores the beginning of a new attempt by Thailand ans other recent protagonists of Vietnam to penetrate the vast but largely untapped Indochina markets.
