The talks, originally scheduled to last time days, focused on ways of withdrawing Vietnam's 100,000 troops in Kampuchea without letting the brutal Khmer Rouge sweep back into power. The Khmer Rouge, blame for a million deaths during their four-year rule, were toppled when Soviet-backed Vietnam invaded Kampuchea in January 1979.
