With an end in sight to stories about the Vietnamisation of Kampuchea - most people accept that the Vietnamese army is heading for home - a new myth is being nurtured. Many writers suggest the Khmer Rouge is poised to fill the shoes of the departing Vietnamese and that one back in Phnom Penh it will recommence the killing interrupted by Vietnamese intervention in 1979.
