According to the Soviet press agency TASS, comrade Eduard Shevardnadze, CPSU Central Committee Political Bureau member and Soviet Foreign Minister, left on February 01, for an official visit to China. It was the first authoritative visit paid by a Soviet Foreign Minister to China for a long time in the history of the Soviet-Chinese relations.
