The prime minister said 800,000 Cambodians had died in the U.S bombing and listed factories and schools destroyed in the raids. He bombing had also encouraged support for the Khmer Rouge, who opposed U.S involvement in Cambodia and whose regime eventually claimed millions of Cambodian lives.
