There was a sharp increase in anxiety about the economic situation. Prince rose and shortages increased. the free market rate of riel rose to 220 riels to the $US as compared with official rate of riels 55 to the $ . The new government got off to rather uncertain start and the main measure it plans, especially in economic affairs, have yet to be announced. It is evident that the three deputy prime minister under the prime minister delegate, general Sisowath Sirik Matak, will have a good deal of independence of action in general political life continued to active.
