A marked increase in Vietnamese communist attacks in the countries side and on the main reads,which reduced available supplies of food and other essential goods in Phnom Penh, A few more incidents of terrorism inteh capital itself and worsening of relations with the South Vietnamese caused concern to foreign observers and senior Cambodian major attacks on Cambodian forces in western Kampong Cham Province ( To the north of Phnom Penh) and strengthened their pressure in other areas. They continued to block route 4. the important road liking Phnom Penh with the port of Kampong Som. Prices of many goods in creased sharply with serous shortages developing, particularly of petroleum products and sugar.
