On 08 January, French foreign minister Francois-Pocent made a statement to the press on Cambodia. He noted that France had, Since 02 January 1978, Publicly warned against serous consequences that might result from renewed fighting is this highly sensitive region frace regreted that two nations with traditional ties a friendship could not resolve their differences peacefully. France recommended a policy based on the continued independence and territory integrity of Cambodia, while at the same time it continued to deplore the failings of the Cambodian regime in the field of human rights.
