Summary / Abstract :

While the Japanese occupied Indochina the Indochina Chinese communist party met with Hochi Minh in May 1941 in south China near the border of Tonkin- Here they established the Vietnam Doc Lap Dong Minh Hoi (Vietnamese independence league). Or Vietminh as it came to be known, to serve as national front organization. The Vietminh under Ho Chiminh's leadership was to become the principal vehicle of Vietnamese nationalism in the struggle that ended in Frances defeat and the Geneva conference of 1954.
