Khieu Samphan, deputy P.M and minister of national defence of the RGNU of Cambodia and commander in chief of the Cambodian People's national liberation Armed forces, wrote a letter on July 1st to comrade Lin Piao, minister of national defence of PRC, Thanking comrade Lin Piao for the congratulations on his appointment as commander in chief of the Cambodian People's national liberation armed forces.
