Supreme command spokesman Som Kattapan said the new blood largely came from the southern part of Vietnam and had been deployed throughout Kampuchea including areas bordering Thailand. The new troops beefing up an estimated 200,000 strong Vietnamese Army stationed in the country since the ouster of the Khmer Rouge leadership in January 1979, were reportedly pumped in early this year.
