My name is Touch Chen and I am currently living in Boeng Ka-ek Village, Prek Roka Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province.

Sang Security Office:

In 1977, my two sons, Ut Sam El and Ut Sam At, and a brother-in-law, Hean Sarim, were arrested and executed in Sang Prison. Ten days after the arrest of my two sons, my brother-in-law was captured. I never knew the reason why my sons and brother-in-law were arrested. I only knew that they were accused of being the enemy of Angkar. I learned of my sons’ arrest from Sem Vat, who witnessed the incident. I learned about the arrest of my brother-in-law from a cart driver (unknown name) who transported vegetables from Koh Khnor Cooperative to Sang Prison. At the present time, Sem Vat is an official working in Battambang Provincial Hall, but I do not know in which village or commune he lives.

Starvation:

Between 1976 and 1978, my husband, Yim Un, along with my children and me, suffered from hunger in Koh Khnor Cooperative. It was the cooperative chief named Ta Sok who was responsible for the starvation of the villagers. There was only watery gruel and morning-glory soup at each meal. The ration was very limited and small and thus we lived with hunger daily.

Torture:

In 1976, my brother-in-law Ngin San was detained in Sang Prison. During his detention, Ngin San was tortured, especially by being kicked and beaten, whenever he was not able to catch enough fish to meet the demand as defined by the Sang Prison chief (unknown name). Ngin San was ordered to catch fish for the cadres who worked in the Sang Security Office. At the end of 1978, Ngin San was freed from the Sang Security Office but he was not allowed to go back home. He was ordered to catch fish until the Vietnamese troops invaded [the country].

Upon returning home, Ngin San told me that my sons were killed with an iron bar and thrown into a mass grave of seventy corpses. Ngin San witnessed the death of my two sons.

In 1986, Ngin San died as a result of an attack by the Khmer Rouge soldiers in the village.

My name is Uy Ut, and I am 79 years old, currently living in Koh Khnor Village, Prek Roka Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province. After learning that my two sons and a brother-in-law were executed in Sang Prison, I was so angry that I could hardly speak, and I cried most of the time. I felt so much pity for my sons, whom I had never beaten even once, but who had to suffer from being shackled and battered to death. Whenever I remember their deaths, I feel a burning sensation in my heart and then I become weak. I never visit the doctor.
