My name is Vorng Sut, and I am 73 years old, currently living in Koh Khnor Village, Prek Roka Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province.
Execution: In 1976, my younger brother Vorng Suk, and three nephews named Aeng Pich, Nhem Ming and Mei Ut, were all executed in Sang Prison in Trapeang Sva Village, Trea Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province. When the Khmer Rouge arrested my younger brother one morning, I was present at the scene. They took him from our home which was located in Prek Roka Village, Prek Roka Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province. It was Pok, the communal combatant who was armed with a gun, who came to arrest and detain my younger brother in Sang Prison. My brother was accused of being the enemy but in fact my younger brother hadn’t committed any crimes. I learned about the arrest of my three nephews from the villagers in Prek Roka Village. They told me that the Khmer Rouge soldiers took my nephews to Sang Prison. I heard that the cooperative chief Yoan said, “All the relatives of Ta Sut must be arrested.� I do not know who was responsible for the death of my younger brother and I do not know how he was killed. I feel so much pity when I think about what happened to my younger brother. He was unjustly killed in Sang Prison without having committed any wrongdoing. I cannot imagine how much pain he must have endured before he died. Nowadays, I am a layman in a pagoda. I learn and follow Buddhist teachings. This has provided me with some relief. Nonetheless, I still want to participate in order to seek justice for the victims; particularly, to ensure that people truly know what happened during such a bloody regime. |
