Askew (Cambodian Affairs) told us on 3rd February that the U.S had decided not to do anything for the time being about the proposal that Sam Sary should leave Thailand it was felt that US invelvement would only arouse suspicions especially if Sam Sary arrived is some other country without any visible means of support.
