Witness to the executions at Cheung Ek [killing fields]:

In July and August 1976, I witnessed the killing of hundreds of Tuol Sleng prisoners at the Cheung Ek killing fields. I witnessed several executions, and noticed that there were only two executioners who killed the inmates. I did not know the two killers, but I remember their appearance – one was small and dark-skinned, while the other was tall, but also dark-skinned. The killing took place most often in the afternoon and evening. Sometimes, when they had no prisoners to be killed, the two executioners would ride horses over to the nearby rice fields and talk with those of us who were transplanting rice. I heard the two saying that no one was helping them dig the pits which were used to bury as many as 30 corpses.

At the end of 1977, Angkar transferred me to fight against Vietnamese troops along the border and after that, I no longer witnessed the executions. However, during the time I worked near the Cheung Ek killing fields, I always saw the truck transporting prisoners there every day at 5 p.m. At first, I thought that the trucks were transporting equipment and other items to be stored in the warehouse of Sang Security Office. Then one day, one of the trucks had a flat tire near my camp. I sneaked a look at the truck and saw only prisoners who had been transported from Tuol Sleng prison. The executioners usually used a bamboo stick and iron bar to kill the inmates. I was about 100 meters away from the execution site. The inmates were interrogated right in front of the pit before they were killed. Inmates were blindfolded and their hands were tied behind their backs. I used to see high ranking Khmer Rouge officials entering the compound of the Cheung Ek killing fields between October and November 1976, and continuing through 1977. There were a lot of high ranking officials who visited the site, but I knew none of them. However, in my opinion, Ieng Sary and Son Sen may have been among those officials because the two of them held the highest positions during that period. The visits often took place at around 5 p.m.

Execution:

My sister Long Vung (alias Sopheap), and elder brother Long Vanny, were detained in Sang Security Office by Chhan, the mobile unit chief, at around 5 p.m. one day during July 1976.

My sister, a detainee in Sang Prison, was raped by two militiamen named Chhen and Tauch in Sang Security Office. Chhen and Tauch were former Sang prisoners, but because there was a change in policy by Angkar at that time, the two were promoted to take charge of all inmates in the prison. That was when the two raped my sister. Chhen has since passed away, but his children are alive and living in Chambak Trap village of Prek Roka commune. I learned this story from my cousin, Bau Channy.

My sister was arrested on the accusation that she committed a moral offense. After raping my sister, Tauch arrested her and transferred her to Sang Prison, accusing her of committing a moral offense with another man. Once she was in the prison, my sister was again raped by Chhen. Later she was executed in the prison when they rammed a long iron bar into her vagina. This was the type of torture which was meted out to those who committed a moral offense. My sister died in July 1976.

My elder brother was executed at the end of 1976. My cousin Kory San, a former Sang prisoner, witnessed the scene. My brother was killed because he spoke out a lot during the meeting . Also, there were a few other people who were killed along with my brother, namely Mong, Ting and Tuon.
