Mao and 1956:
Historian have long recognized the significance of 1956 in China's modern history. Although China does not immediately come to mind when we think of 1956, here dramatic events in Poland imagination. It was a turning point for Mao's socialist experiment and for China relationship with the world. Domestically the stage was set for the upheaval of the great leap forward and the culture revolution. |
