Summary / Abstract :
|
The Soviet Union is active in South-East Asia although the region does not have high priority in its global interests. In South-east Asia the USSR labours under the disadvantages of remoteness and lack of influence compared to that of its competitors. Soviet policy aims to contain China and to diminish the influence of the United States. Vietnam represents the main Soviet asset in South-east Asia.
