The Vietnamese Ambassador called on Lord Goronny-Roberts on instructions on February 19. He spoke on the lines of the statement in Mift and said that according to his early information some thousands of Chinese troops and more than 60 tanks had been knocked out in the first stages of the Chinese attack.
