Description
Lar Munstock was a teacher before the Khmer Rouge came to power. She was forced to work in a concentration camp in Pursat between October 1978 and May 1979. Even though Phnom Penh was liberated in January 1979, Pursat was still under the control of the Khmer Rouge. In fact, the workers from the Pursat camp were forced into the jungle, and the Khmer Rouge began to kill a lot of them. At this time Lar was reunited with her daughter in the jungle. Eventually, Lar escaped to a refugee camp in Thailand, but was not allowed to stay there, and went back into the jungle. Finally, Lar Munstock came to California with the help of a friend. Her husband moved to Minnesota, but Lar stayed back with her children in California.
