You can only let somebody go, when you are bound to him. “ BONNE NUIT PAPA is a film about conciliation, farewall and connections. It documents Marina Kem’s search for her father’s story. A father who was doubly strange to her, strange because of his Cambodian origins, strange because of his silence. Dr. Ottara Kem never spoke about his homeland. But on his deathbed he desired to be buried in Cambodia. With the fulfillment of his wish begins an intense, conciliative, and poetic journey for his daughter. Tracing the footsteps of his life she immerse herself deeper and deeper into the history of Cambodia’s ideological wars. At the end she finds a new family and reconciles with her roots.
