Description
This film takes a look at the ancient Khmer empire which flourished between the 9th and 13th centuries and controlled much of Thailand, Vietnam and Laos, with Cambodia as its seat of power. While Europe dwindled during the dark ages, this empire in the middle of the rain forest developed. The report takes a look at how the empire sustained itself, what life was like at the time, and the engineering works under the empire. Life in Angkor almost a thousand years ago was not very different from life in Cambodia today as agriculture was still the main occupation of the people and rice the staple crop.
