Additional information collected on September 01, 2009 Executions: During the rainy season between 1976 and 1977, I witnessed two executions. The first execution I saw when I was assigned by Boeun, the chief of militiamen, to collect old clothes at the forest to the north of the village stream. There was a security center called Ta Phe in the forest (Russei Kraing Chas Village, Russei Kraing Commune, Mong Russei District, Battambang Province; today the name has been changed to Prey Tralach Commune, Rukkakiri District, Battambang Province). There I saw four or five square pits, twenty meters in width and four meters in depth. Near the pits were four or five bamboo sticks. There were about two or three hundred dead bodies in the pits. Some of them were Muslims, because I saw two red turbans there. One militiaman, who had committed the killing, was injured later on during a chaotic situation one night when the KR mistakenly shot at their own group at Russei Kraing Village, Prey Tralach Commune, Mong Russei District, Battambang Province. Also, I saw other dead bodies (I did not know their names) covered by a haystack at the mowing field when I went back to thresh the rice. I assumed that they were new people coming from Svay Rieng Province. The second time I saw an execution was the killing of my colleague, who had been assigned to climb a sugar palm tree to collect palm juice. He was intercepted and thrown into the well. This crime occurred at Svay Ya Village, Prey Tralach Commune, Mong Russei District, Battambang Province. He was accused of being a Vietnamese ally, because he came from Svay Rieng Province. (I secretly heard the militiamen gossiping that they planned to kill all the people from Svay Rieng). Two of his children were also killed at that time. In my village, there were two militiawomen and five militiamen. The two ladies were named Kob Mah and Kob Meh, the younger sister of Mah. They now live in Svay Ya Village, Prey Tralach Commune, Mong Russei District, Battambang Province. The other five militiamen were Boeun, chief of militiamen; and Hong (these two men currently live at Kraing Russei Commune); Siek, who has passed away; and two other militiamen from Kampong Chhang Province, who were unknown to me.
