Additional Information: (dated 3 October 2009) Evacuation and Execution: My uncle, Keo Eng, and his family lived in Phnom Penh during the reign of King Sihanouk. In 1975, the Khmer Rouge evacuated all the residents of Phnom Penh. Thus, my uncle and his family headed for his home village of Prek Chrouk Village, Kampong Braing Commune, Peareang District, Prey Veng Province. In June 1975, the cooperative chief (name unknown) ordered my uncle to be re-educated. My uncle was taken from Prek Chrouk Village of Kampong Braing Commune to Snay Pul Commune and has never been seen since. During that time, the Khmer Rouge took many former Lon Nol officials to be re-educated. The rationale behind the arrest of my uncle was that he was a former Lon Nol military policeman. In 1976, Angkar evacuated my uncle, Keo Chea, and his family from Prek Chrouk Village, Kampong Braing Commune, to Pursat Province. They have never been seen again. I was not evacuated with them and therefore didn’t know about their living conditions or specifically where they settled. I just knew the incident happened in Pursat Province. The person who authorized their evacuation was the cooperative chief, but unfortunately I don’t remember his name.
